Obama Appoints Transgender Attorney To Presidential Commission
President Obama just took another step forward in acceptance for transgender people: He has appointed civil rights attorney and openly transgender man Shannon Minter to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships, the Washington Blade reports.
But Minter isn’t the first trans person Obama has appointed.
As the first sitting president to come out in support of marriage equality, Obama is truly the most progressive president the LGBT community has seen.
The Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage is drawing nearer, and as it does, transgender issues continue to climb in prominence and attention.
